Our Mission

Gold Coast Model A Restorer's Club Logo

Founded in 1966

To preserve and keep the old car hobby going forward for the present and the upcoming generations.

"Dedicated to the Preservation and Enjoyment of Antique, Classic, and Special Interest Ford Products"

We are very active & always encourage our Members to drive  their cars; that is what they were made for, and we do have good  turnouts.  Every Month an event is scheduled, be it a Garage Tour, Cruise to Nowhere, Tune-up & Tube Steaks or a Mystery Trip. We Attend Christmas Parades, Fourth of July Parades, Memorial  Day, Founders' Days, and any other times we are called on to display our cars at civic functions. We also volunteer at different nursing homes  and spread cheer to those who need it.

If You have a special event or opening and wish to have one or more of our cars to be at that event please contact the president to make arrangements.

The President's Corner

December 2024

I grew up in a Ford family.  When I was a little girl around 10 years old, my dad asked me what kind of car I liked best.  I replied that I love Model A’s and that someday I would own one.  He replied, “Karen, you are such a young girl. Why would you want a car so old?”  I replied, “they’re beautiful, stylish, and I love the sound of the oogah horn.”

When I got married, my husband, Rick, asked me what kind of car I like best.  I told him the same thing, but I was more specific and I added the year.  I told him my favorite car is a 1931 Ford Model A Roadster Deluxe.  Since he worked for Ford Motor Company, he was quite pleased, yet surprised, with my choice.

Years later while sipping on coffee one Sunday morning, my husband, Rick, was surfing through Facebook Marketplace and came upon a car for sale.  He asked, “hey, Karen, here’s a 1931 Ford Model A Roadster Deluxe for sale. Do you want to go see it?  Amazingly, it’s local, right here in Palm Beach County.”  I asked if there was a picture I could see.  When I saw it, I immediately loved it!  Rick asked me if I wanted to take a drive to go see it.  He called the owner who had it for sale and he told him we were heading over.

I loved the car at first sight!  We test drove the ruby beauty and fell in love with it.  The seller said he wouldn’t take anything less than the asking price, so we offered full price.  We gave him a $1,000 deposit and surprisingly, he told us to take it home and come back the next day with the rest of the money!

I smiled all the way home. Upon returning home, I quickly prepared a Bill of Sale and gathered the rest of the money.  I could hardly sleep that night because I was so excited. The next day early in the morning, we all signed the Bill of Sale and took care of the financial end of it.

The car was in perfect condition, but we spit shined our new prized gem anyway. We wore our fedoras and drove and drove and drove all over town grinning from ear to ear until the sun went down.  We could hardly wait for the sun to rise the next day so we could do it all over again.

I called my dad the next morning to tell him that very unexpectedly, and on a whim, we went to go see my favorite car listed for sale locally and that we purchased a ruby 1931 Ford Model A Roadster Deluxe with yellow rims, my dream car.  He replied, “Well, Karen, I guess dreams really do come true.”  “Yes, they do, Dad,” I replied, “yes, they do.”

Club History

The Gold Coast Region of M.A.R.C., Gold Coast Region Model A Restorers Club, was started in 1966 through the efforts of 6 Model A owners.

In a short while they attracted  a sizeable group of people who owned Model A Fords. They came from Ft.  Lauderdale, Plantation, Davie, Pompano Beach, Boca Raton, and many areas  in this region of Florida.

Since that small beginning we now average a membership of 75 families.

You don't have to own a Model A to be a member.

We met for 40 years at 8:00 pm every 3rd Wednesday of  the month at the Frigemobile Corp.,  which was owned by the Late Denton McElroy who was one of the Charter  Members.

We now meet the 2nd Saturday for a breakfast meeting at 11AM at The Gourmet Deli House, 7117 Lake Worth Road, Lake Worth, FL 33467

Club officers include a President, Vice President,  Secretary, Treasurer, plus board members who may serve as long as they are re-elected.

All our welcome to attend!
